In the highly developed area of northern New Jersey roadway widening is not always the most feasible approach to maximizing the capacity of a road. Along the Route 202 corridor in Lincoln Park, Stonefield was able to utilize a “Road Diet” approach to maximizing the capacity of the roadway by providing exclusive turn lanes as well as a two way left-turn lane. The project also
replaced outdated traffic signal equipment with MUTCD compliant signal equipment and intersection layouts. With the addition of the “road diet” and improvements to the ADA sidewalk ramps, pedestrian accessibility and safety was enhanced to the local businesses in the area.
